I had an awful, traumatic experience on Jan 20 , 2024 when trying to pick my meds up from the fallsway pharmacy. Mr Patel the pharmacist asked me if my dog was a service dog which is a Violation of the ADA ... And is clearly listed on the Federal ADA as a violation of my disability rights. Even though he had No reason to ask I did provide the ESP letter from my Dr. Etc and was told I was banned nevertheless and could not return with my ESA though the animal or myself did nothing wrong. I will be filing a federal disability discrimination lawsuit against him and the location. My dog had on the appropriate vest stating her status. I plan on filing a Federal Discrimination lawsuit.

On June 28th, 2024, I visited Mt. Vernon Pharmacy at fallsway to obtain necessary medication. As a disabled woman, I rely on my service dog to assist me with my disability, which is legally permitted under the Americans with Disabilities Act. (ADA) Upon entering the pharmacy, the pharmacist on duty, “Shivas Patel”, immediatly questoined the legitimacy of my service dog. The pharmacist demanded to see “tags” or “papers” proving that my dog was a service dog. I informed him that tha ADA does not require service animals to have specific documentation and offeerd to provide information about the ADA regulations. Despite this, he insisted he was within his rights to refuse service without such proof. His exact words were “If youre so confident, you would have proof” when I suggested visiting the ADA website to clarify the regulations, he refused and stated “I dont need any (ADA Training)” This interaction casued me significant emotional distress, resulting in a panic attack. I requested the pharmacist call the police to mediate the situation and he outright refused. I began to experience symptoms of a panic attack and sat on the ground while my service dog performed DPT to help regulate my nervous system. The pharmacists said I needed to “take that outside” and I explained to hi that I was having a panic attack and if i stood up I would faint. He explained again that he would not give me my medication with my service dog present, and the security guard offered to hold my service dog outside while I made the transaction. I only agreed to allow this because i needed my medication. I had to complete the transaction from the ground because I was still dizzy and experiencing distress. Both the clerk and the pharmacist said it was too soon to pick up any of my medications. anyway The pharmacists actions not only violated my rights under the ADA but also caused severe emotional distress. He refused to serve me and lack of understanding of the ADA regulations highlight a significant gap in knowledge and sensitivity training, which is unacceptable in a professional healthcare setting. Additionally as a black disabled woman seeking services at a facility intended to support vulnerable populations, the discriminatory treatment I received is particularly egregious and indicative of broader systemic issues.

I had a horrible experience. I will not be going back. First of all you have to stand in line outside to do your business, drop off or pick up medications or even Speak with the pharmacist. The excuse that I was given is that it's due to covid But we all know that pharmacies all across Maryland is open this is the only Pharmacy that I've seen that allows people to stand outside while taking care of their medical business all while trucks and ambulance are going by therefore you can't hear. This has to be a breach of HIPAA and I will be filing a complaint with HIPPA.

Very friendly, efficient pharmacy. It is attached to Healthcare for the Homeless, so you need to negotiate around some homeless people at times.
