Class act all the way. They are fully staffed with bright, cheery-faced people who are helpful and competent. The store itself is stocked with just about anything you might need. Their vaccination system is organized and efficient. Feels like and old-time Mkm and Pop that is updated just where needed (technology, etc). A GEM. Special commendation to Alicia C for her follow-up and positive attitude. Thank you all!
Today I went in to buy some sunglass and was blown away by the service I received. The guy at the checkout was very friendly and even cleaned the glasses with alcohol wipes for me, and gave me some to wipe my hands and the PIN pad on the card reader. Very sanitary and great setup. This was an amazing retail experience I was not expecting, and completely turned my day around as I was having a bad time especially after just having my old sunglasses get ran over.
On 10/7/2023 my husband came into Nutmeg Pharmacy Higganum to obtain his Covid vaccine. I was there on 10/6/2023 and obtained the same vaccine. We are both insured under my husband’s health insurance, which is BCBS. My vaccine was free of charge after they ran my insurance. The very next day, when my husband went, he was charged $25.00. He mentioned that I was not charged, and the gentleman at the counter told my husband “it must have been my lucky day.” Today my husband called BCBS to find out where the EOB for his 10/7/2023 Covid shot was? BCBS explained my husband should not have been charged anything for the Covid shot because Nutmeg Pharmacy Higganum is contracted with BCBS. The BCBS rep put my husband on hold while she called Nutmeg Pharmacy. She then brought my husband on the line when Greg answered. Greg was so rude to the BCBS agent, telling her that BCBS reimburses less then what he pays for the vaccine, and that is why he charged my husband the $25.00. The BCBS rep reiterated that Nutmeg Pharmacy Higganum entered into a contract with BCBS, and they can not just add on a $25.00 surcharge. Well Greg then became even angrier and told the BCBS rep that he will refund the $25.00, but going forward he refuses to provide services to my husband and I. I don’t think Greg realized my husband was on the third line listening to all this play out, but that should not be an excuse. We now know exactly what Greg, and Nutmeg Pharmacy Higganum thinks of us, and will never utilize their services again, nor will we ever recommend them to anyone. Kirk Bole Brian M. Lombardi
I've been a customer on and off since 1987. I've never once had a problem with medication they couldn't resolve. Their medication management for patients with multiple medications is second to none. Thanks to all the staff for making such a great effort to keep my husband and I so very happy and compliant with taking our daily medications. 😁
The staff at this pharmacy are so helpful and understanding. Very kind. Excellent selection for medications, toys and gifts. Highly recommend! Also a big giant THANK YOU to Ryan for having the patience of a saint!
What an awesome place! Just like a good old fashioned pharmacy used to be, all it needs is a soda fountain!!. I came in to get some cold meds and the pharmacist came out from behind the counter to help me! I mean, when does that happen? And the man who rang me up was quite polite as well and very personable. People still need people, this is a gem of a place, I already feel better just visiting there!
I had to go for a PCR test, I made an appt online. I arrived to find appt never went thru. Greg came out to car and told me to try again and call when I was all set. As I'm entering all the information again, the system wouldn't recognize Anthem, so I called and Amber answered and gave me an attitude from the phone call to the actual test. I had to fill out a form and give her my ID and insurance card. The person who brought back my cards was also really nice and apologic. Then Amber came out to do the test. If Amber was the first person I encountered, I would of said, never mind and gone elsewhere. I will not be back or recommend.
Beats CVS on courtesy, knowledge, and even price! This pharmacy turned pharmacy/hardware store is the best around. One time I was in, there was a change in my insurance and prices skyrocketed on my prescriptions. The pharmacist saw the total from across the room and came over to say, "you're not paying that", he applied coupons and found discounts until my price was just slightly more than what I was used to. I value the friendliness of the staff just as much. Many are on a first name basis with their regulars but treat everyone as if they knew them well. If you're wasting your time and money with one of the mega-pharmacies, give Nutmeg a try. I'm sure you'll be satisfied. On top of this Higganum location they have stores in Moodus, Centerbrook, New London, and Taftville.
Everyone I have come across here is helpful and nice Calm atmosphere and a great place for vaccines It's a small pharmacy, but they have everything from toys, candy, some hardware items, hair products, medicine and all sorts of other things Very convenient if you are passing by on 81 toward Killingworth/interstate 9 entrances or Saybrook Road On a side note, there is an LQ across the street, two eateries which both close at Noon, both are great places to eat. There are two pizza places, a restaurant, Liberty Bank, post office and a local market
Staff is very friendly, have never had a mistake or wait with getting a prescription like at CVS and Walgreens. Cute selection of cards and gifts too, but on the pricier side.
