Guardian Pharmacy of Indiana

My Mom’s Assisted Living (Morning Pointe Franklin) uses Guardian. Morning Pointe’s decision to use Guardian , from what I understand, is made at a corporate level in another state. Guardian is horrible at best. As in other reviews they are way more than double other local pharmacy prices and I do understand why… From what I understand, they send the dosages for the days individually. This takes much of the liability off of the facility that is administering the drugs. It also removes 100% of the control over having the right drugs at the right time. There were several problems early on with doctors prescribing things and my mom not getting started on that medication for days up to a week later. Now Hospice is involved with my mom and lo and behold Guardian strikes again in the most unusual and viciously cruel way ever. They were unable to fulfill Hospice‘s order for liquid hydromorphone on Friday so they sent it in pill form. So on Monday I learn my mother who is actively dying and hasn’t drank in days is being further abused by Guardian being given ground up pills in a paste type form under her tongue. Imagine how bad a pill tastes when you accidentally get a taste of it now imagine having a ground up dose put under your tongue and further imagine the fact that you can’t drink water or wash it out of your mouth. If bone and multiple other cancers aren’t enough she also has to endure Guardian Pharmacy’s inability to keep proper meds available or follow up with another pharmacy insuring a dying patient is receiving what they need in a humane way. I can’t actually say enough bad things about Guardian. I love love love the staff at Morning Pointe but their corporate decisions to get in bed with Guardian and remain true to them and them only would make me evaluate other facilities for future needs. This is a shame because Mornings Pointe is great and the entire situation is out of their control!😡😡😡🤬

My mother's assisted living facility chooses its pharmacy vendor. After switching to Guardian, her costs doubled and tripled. Reaching "customer service" is a joke, and after several months of trying, I have still not gotten to the bottom of which medications were paid for by hospice, which were submitted to her supplemental insurance, and which we owed for. I don't know how you can avoid using them if the facility selects them, but I hope administrators think twice before switching to this company.

My father’s memory care facility switched pharmacies to Guardian. The first bill was more than triple the previous pharmacy monthly bill, from under $200 a month to over $700 a month. No new prescriptions were added and no dosages were changed. That’s immoral! I will be doing all I can to swap pharmacies. Unfortunately I live in another state so I am unable to purchase and deliver his prescriptions myself.

I really think these folks are pretty darn great. They have done a fine job managing my mother’s prescriptions from multiple doctors. They keep up to date. They are pleasant, responsive and professional. Thanks much to Emily today for her great service and empathetic approach to her work.

The service from Guardian has been extremely good. The staff is always helpful and will answer any of my questions.
