I stopped by Duran’s while in town for Balloon Fiesta and was blown away by how welcoming everyone was. The staff treated us like regulars from the moment we walked in. They were genuinely friendly, attentive, and happy to answer questions about the menu. Even though the place was packed, our server checked on us often and made great recommendations (the homemade tortillas were increidble). The whole experience felt warm and personal, like stepping into a piece of Albuquerque history. Between the kind service, cozy atmosphere, and great food, this was one of the highlights of my trip.

A friend and I met in Albuquerque for the weekend. Duran Central Pharmacy was recommended to us for breakfast. What an amazing experience! We had to wait for a table, but the shopping at the pharmacy made the wait painless. They had so many interesting and fun items. The clothes were my favorite! The food was the best I have eaten since I moved to New Mexico 2 years ago. I had pretty much given up on having good Mexican food at a restaurant... I will definitely be eating there every time I go to Albuquerque! I just wish it wasn't 4 hours away from where I live ❤️

I can see why this place has been an Albuquerque institution for decades! Located in the historic Central Pharmacy building, this family-owned restaurant delivers authentic New Mexican cuisine that hits all the right notes. We ordered the stuffed sopapillas and empanadas, and both dishes were absolutely outstanding. The stuffed sopapillas were perfectly golden and fluffy, filled with savory goodness that made every bite satisfying. The empanadas were crispy on the outside with a delicious, well-seasoned filling that had just the right amount of spice. The atmosphere is quintessentially New Mexican - warm, welcoming, and steeped in local tradition. You can feel the history in this place, and the staff clearly takes pride in serving quality food that represents the best of regional cuisine. If you're looking for authentic New Mexican food in Albuquerque, Duran's should definitely be on your list. The stuffed sopapillas alone are worth the trip, and the empanadas are a perfect complement. This is the kind of local treasure that makes dining out special. Highly recommended for both locals and visitors.

Visited from NYC and made it a point to come here after my boyfriend learned about them online. Absolutely delicious food! We went for dinner one night and came back for lunch the next. The blue corn chicken tacos were amazing, but I will never forget the green chili bowl with the buttered tortilla on the side! Already daydreaming of coming back to New Mexico soon to have it again ❤️

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is incredibly unique. We ordered chilaquiles and it was some of the best we’ve had in New Mexico. The service was fantastic as well (thanks Kirk!) The portions are quite large so I’d recommend sharing plates. The only downside of this restaurant is how popular it is compared to its capacity. You really have to go at a good time or you’ll be waiting for quite some time. However, I wouldn’t say that detracts from the experience!

Food was great!! I got the breakfast enchiladas with green chili and loved it. My friend got the burrito and she liked everything but their thick tortilla. The taco had a lot of cheese on it too. Overall top of the list for New Mexican food! Coffee is also good. The gift shop has really fun stuff and you can spend of money there.

Had breakfast there this morning and it was amazing. We had the breakfast enchiladas and chilaquiles and loved both. Sat at the counter and watched a true hero make delicious Tortillas on the flat top!

First time at Duran pharmacy restaurant. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. But it was definitely worth it. I had the breakfast burrito smothered with red chili. Red chili tasted just like homemade. Delicious , plus we got to shop in the little store while we were waiting for a table. Definitely will be back.
